The Saga Continues

It really makes you feel good when your friends miss you. Thanks all of you who missed me and remembered me.
To continue the story I have landed up from the frying pan into the deep freeze! From Africa I have come back to a region of India called Laddakh. The average altitude varies between 10,000 feet to 18,000 feet. And during this season the temperatures vary from -10 to -55 degrees Celsius ! Adjusting to this requires some effort. On top of this I tried to paint plein air! My hands went numb, brushes kept aside would freeze, the paints were misbehaving... finally I had to rush inside to complete this work. Anyway, its good to be back!

  1. So glad you are back! I missed looking at your wonderful paintings and wishing I had your loose and energetic way of painting! This is beautiful and I can't even imagine painting in such cold. And I lived in Northern Illinois and Michigan for years (very cold winters in the USA. Can't wait to see more. You really captured the cold, not just with the guy huddled in the jacket (love that) but with the colors.

  2. Welcome back! I like how you positioned the figure towards the edge of the painting. Kind of says to me how he's turning his back on winter and the cold!

  4. Indeed, it is really good to have you back. But what a drastic change of climate for you! This has not impacted your painting though - this painting is so fresh and loose and the composition keeps the eye interested in the entire painting. Really well done!

  15. i cannot believe you are in that freezing cold. this painting reminds me of a book i read called, "three cups of tea". in takes place in India where a mountain climber was rescued by a local and nursed back to health in a small village.
