Paintout

This watercolour was made by me for Virtual Paintout for the month of May. This is a shot from the city of Prague. I selected this particular shot over lot of other sights that this lovely city had to offer on Google Street View because of the interesting shadows and reflections that fall all over the place. Capturing them in watercolour was really challenging.

  8. Asit, I have already commented on this painting but I wanted to answer your question to me on my blog.

The small success that I have (I believe) is in the composition of the painting. I do mostly still life and I strive to show it in a unique way. I don't know if I am successful, but my goal is to make you look at that carrot or squash as though it is an object you have not seen before. When I first started painting I remember reading that artists spend all their effort looking for that "special" beautiful spot, when actually their job is to MAKE every spot LOOK beautiful. You can do this! It's all about the light.
