Therapy

My work schedule has been quite tight and it was difficult to get out and paint in spite of invitations from some like minded friends. Picked up a picture of these Maple leaves from the net. Managed to squeeze in some painting time in between the hectic schedule and the result is in front of you. I have realized that painting acts as a stress buster when I am under pressure. I am wondering.... 'are there positive sides to stress' ? Can some one help ?

  1. Beautifully captured! I love how you've managed the shadows in the water. So realistic. Bravo! There is no positive side to stress, but recognizing it and taking steps to minimize it will in turn create a more balanced and healthy body. Art therapy is a wonderful choice, as is meditation, tai chi and other physical activity that makes you feel good. And don't forget to breathe :).
    Stay inspired!

  3. Asit, I am so glad you had some time to create this lovely painting. As for the stress, like everything, some is good and necessary for growth; too much becomes deleterious to the system. I agree with Michelle; meditation and physical activity do help. I do hope your schedule eases up soon.

  4. This is a beautiful work Asit.I think that with small amounts of stress, we push ourselves to do our best. But if we dont control stress, it does take over us so much that we have to pay heavy price for the deterioration of our body and mind.

  6. Painting can be a wonderful stress buster - it takes you mind off the other things and sometimes can be like a meditation with color :) I think the only positive to stress is that you may get more done - until you make yourself sick from the busyness and stress. So do find time to destress at least a little bit each day. This is a beautiful painting - love how you've played the warms and cools to give us a wonderful focal point.

  8. It is funny you 'de-stress ' when you paint...when I am stressed I can't paint :-) But the result of your de-stressing is wonderful, love the different colors of the leaves.

    Gros bisous

  12. A nice play on negative shapes here Asit.

Not sure if painting really is a stress-buster, as when I was painting the other day, I found myself concentrating so hard that it gave me neck ache!

Absolutely love this and it makes me feel calm looking at it :)

Stress will get you up and moving and accepting new challenges, even in painting :)
Moderation is everything, the overload is what's bad.

For me yoga, exercise and painting are stress busters but if I can't squeeze time for those -that itself brings on stress :(
